Certificates on Fiche?

Ancestry.co.uk has images of parish records for London, England: Births and Baptisms 1813-1906, Marriages and Banns 1754-1921, and Deaths and Burials 1813-1980.  You do have to pay to view and download the images, but this can be a lot cheaper than buying certificates.

Combining Source Citations

Richard, I find that provided any text items attached to the citations are identical, the source citations are indeed combined in the report.  But the sources will still be shown separately for each individual in the report, unless using the option for Location of Source Citations 'At the end of the...

Exporting Gedcom lt;pipegt;Files

Peter, This sounds like you may be trying to open XXXX.ged by double-clicking it in Windows Explorer. This only works if the file extension 'ged' is associated with an appropriate application, in this case FH. You should be able to start FH and use the menu options to open XXXX.ged or, in Windows Ex...

The diagram below shows the marriages of two pairs of siblings (who were also 3rd cousins) which I created for the sample project: http://www.fhug.rjt.org.uk/images/uploads/2010-03-07_111314.png With Caroline Riley as Root, the duplicate relationships are clearly shown.  For example, Elizabeth Munro...

Phone number in family group sheets

Sabine,
I think the only way may be to use the Report Options  to Add... the Phone Number to the Family Member Main Items. Perhaps someone else knows how to get it to appear with the other Co-residence information, rather than with the information specific to each spouse.

Diagonal lines in boxes

I presume the image above is a scan of the printed output?  If so it could be a problem with the printer or the printer driver.  This is why I asked (above, 02/28/10 - 21:24:00) whether the diagonal lines appear when 'printing' to a PDF file.

Diagonal lines in boxes

Have you tried 'printing' to a PDF file?  This facility is built into FH v4 but a separate PDF creator can be used for earlier versions. See: http://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/doku.php?id=aboutother_nonfh_software:pdf_creators I used to use PDFCreator until I upgraded to v4.  If the diagonal lines are not...

You should be able to get a chart showing your and your partner's families, if you use the Ctrl key to select both you and your partner's records and then view the relevant diagram.  Similarly you can select your and your partner's Family record on the Families tab of the records window, and view a ...

Bill, If you use a text editor such as PSPad (see http://www.fhug.org.uk/wiki/wiki/doku.php?id=fhugdownloads:contents:pspad_editor and use the 'Downloads' links) you can do a global edit of all such invalid dates in your GEDCOM file by using Regular Expressions: Find: '( DATE [0-9]{1,2})-([A-Za-z]{3...

Bill The GEDCOM 5.5 Standard has very precise requirements for the format of an exact date, typically DD MMM YYYY (separated by a single space) where DD must be a 1- or 2-digit number, MMM must be one of JAN FEB MAR APR MAY JUN JUL AUG SEP OCT NOV DEC, and YYYY must be a 3- or 4-digit number (althou...

Sue, You could create a new custom query with the following Column definition: Heading: Name(SURNAME) [or anything else you like] Expression: %INDI.NAME[1]:SURNAME% Sort: Ascending You would also need to delete the column headed 'Individual' which appears by default for an Individual query. You should now be able to:

1) Uninstall novaPDF Printer 6.1
2) Reinstall FH 4.0 Upgrade from CD
3) Install FH 4.0.2 update from download

Sorry if my earlier suggestion was misleading.

Did you uninstall novaPDF Printer 6.1 before re-installing the FH 4.0.2 upgrade? If not, that may have prevented the installation of the version of novaPDF that's built into FH.

Strange one this

Steve,
You didn't say whether you had tried making his box bigger, e.g. as big as his wife's (by first clicking on the Enable Moving/Resizing button).

If you start a diagram directly from the record for your great (x2) grandfather that shows his death date, do you have the same problem?

I wonder if his box on the diagram is big enough to display all of the text.  Have you tried making his box a bit bigger?  Or is there a text-scheme condition (e.g. Living Flag Set) which prevents display of death details?

Jon, I agree.  In fact I would go further and would also like an option to explicitly save current preferences, colour scheme, report column layout, etc., in a named file in the project folder.  There could then also be an option to load a particular saved set of preferences, etc.  I guess there wou...

Treat whole individual record as text ?

Geoff,
The standard query Contains Text should do this for you.  It uses the =ContainsText() function with the 3rd parameter set to 'EXT' so that it also looks at linked Notes, etc.  See the Help file for the ContainsText function.

Second marriage - names - help please

I think the usual convention is always to use the birth name as the principal name for an individual, however often the name changes because of marriage, divorce, etc.  Certainly there is no provision within the GEDCOM 5.5 Standard for recording the date period for which a particular version of the ...

Yes of course, I should have mentioned that images for Sources have to be excluded separately. I've re-checked what I said about the Edit-Media-Item window.  In fact the Exclude-from-Diagrams check-box works OK, and creates a Link/Note field if necessary, but the Exclude-from-Reports check-box canno...

If you want to exclude all images from a particular report, it's probably easier to use the Report Options... Pictures tab and set the Max Pics to zero and untick the 'Include Pictures' boxes. A picture can be linked to an Individual, a Family, or an Event, and it is the link that carries the Exclus...
