Re: FH6 program

OK Mike, I had copied the e-mail licences and ids to my portable hd but have now added the download files as well and added the whole lot to the cloud too. So as long as I remember where I''ve put them I'll be OK in future........

Do I have to back up my revised settings since they were last done in 2015?

Re: FH6 program

At long last I've got the proper versions of 5 and 6 and updated to 6.2.2 now as well successfully. I'm amazed that my media files are all intact as well, presumably they're stored elsewhere on my pc?
Whats an installation archive?

Re: copying source record

Thank you Mike, it seems to be working OK now but wasn't before. I've got version 6.2.2 but when I open the program it says it's a trial version and I've got to enter the key!
Another query should I back up the settings for future reference or are they OK from 2015? :?:

copying source record

Before I used to be able to copy a source with my mouse and it would stay there so that I could paste the same source to another fact or individual, I don't seem to be able to do that since I redownloaded the program today. Is there a short cut or tool that will do this? :?:

Re: FH6 program

Re: death informant

Thank you Mike very informative, didn't realise how deep the program is and have now amended the birth and death facts to incorporate the informant details.
Also didn't know about the snipping tool but do now and done a snip as a test!
Thank you for your help and knowledge.

I've given you access to the drive documents.
It's not completely like your screen shot as you will see.

Re: death informant

I've got another Canada death that records the informant as being dead as well as the actual deceased.
The file is too large for me to attach it-how can I make it smaller?

Re: printing/saving an FH report

Yes Peter it is the 'print' option that causes the problem. As I no longer have a printer, I have to save the reports and then e-mail them to my cousins/contacts.

printing/saving an FH report

When publishing say a descendant narrative report, it is generated and if I press print it takes me to the print pop up, if I then set it up for the FH PDF and press OK, it shows the file name as the current project name. Is it possible for it to give the report name rather than the default project ...

Re: FH Back up files

Thank you very much Mike, it's been a long time consuming problem that you've solved for me; perhaps I caused it by pressing a wrong button on the pop up window or.... who knows. However I'll save a report of my previously 'lost' data from the other tree project and then I can copy and paste from it...

Re: FH Back up files

Strangely when I backed up the Rosser210316 project, it has now 3,497,218 kb against the original 3,491,854 kb. Restoring the FH Project Backup - Rosser210316 - 2017-01-11 2208.zip file gives: File Name: E:\Family Historian Projects\Rosser 150117\Rosser 150117.fh_data\Rosser 150117.ged Record Counts...

Re: FH Back up files

The problem is that RosserHenderson110117 project's back up file is the smaller of the 2 at 262847 kb and not the largest on the portable hd :?: , so what to do about that? Or am I saving the wrong back up file from RosserHenderson110117?

Re: FH Back up files

Hello Mike, I use the Opera browser as I find it is better for copy and pasting than other browsers. When I copy and paste to the AS census say, I dodge between the browser and AS in order to copy the data from the source record, as they're shown on the bottom toolbar as well as the FH icon, it may ...

Re: FH Back up files

Thank you Mike, as you know I'm a technophobe! I always click on the AS plug in whilst using the...

Re: FH Back up files

I was running the AS data entry plug in for 1939 register and in middle of entering the family when a pop said that the 'thing' had changed-this has happened before when I move from my browser to the plug in and back again, anyway the plug in restarted where I'd left it so I was able to continue ent...
