Re: Address / Place in Maps

I have always had that option blocked. I was just concerned as to whether the plug-in might override it since the plug-in is not part of the original Calico Pie FH coding.

Re: Address / Place in Maps

That Indiana address is dead-on, i.e., right on the outline of the actual house!

Before I download & use the plug-in, will it make any attempt to change the geo-coordinates that I have already manually coded for the 1500 Place records in my database?

Re: Address / Place in Maps

Yes, I did make a post in response to your reply with your posted graphic image on the plug-in. I see that both our posts are gone. I had responded that the plug-in was very impressive and had asked if you had simply typed in Affligem Abbey, Affligem, Belgium to get the results the way they were dis...

Re: Address / Place in Maps

As has been mentioned previously, I manually enter the geo-coordinates for all Place records that involve a street address. I initially enter the town/city coordinates to get in the general area. I then zoom in on the map to get down to the street level to find a specific location. I then drag the m...

Re: Newspapers fact

Jane, one of the focal points of my ISR profiles is the "Biography" attribute. This is a Custom attribute that I created within FH. So, anytime that I want to write a biography on someone's life, I just open the "Add Fact" tab and select the "Biography" attribute and pr...

Re: "Shires" and "Counties"

Thanks for all the replies. Yes, that does sound a little complex over there.

In the U.S. we are pretty much city/town, township, county, state.

I think I will remove the "County" term from all my U.K. "shire" locations.

"Shires" and "Counties"

I have an extensive number of ancestors from the U.K. I have a question for you U.K. folks regarding the usage of the term 'shire" as it is used in places like "North Yorkshire". I have been adding "County" to the end of such PLACE names, i.e., "North Yorkshire County&q...

Re: New User: how many projects for a family tree?

Thank you all. Most helpful. I had assumed Dropbox would be the way to go to back-up. I'll explore the Media Folder. By all means, I would keep all your FH media in the default FH Media folder. Anytime that you add media to your project, FH will automatically ask you if it is ok to put it in the de...

Re: Create Separate FH Project File For Spouse's Family

Yes, I tried your first suggestion a few days ago. But since my wife and I had some shared relatives back in the Charlemagne era, my side of the family still kept popping up with all those colorful lines that showed the mutual connections to our ancient ancestors. So, as a quick alternative, I figur...

Re: Create Separate FH Project File For Spouse's Family

Your very first posting said you wanted to " isolate all the ancestors/relatives on my wife's side of the tree and create a new FH project file for just her family ". Well now the Plugin has given you the Named List of required Individuals you can create that Project using the advice in h...

Re: Create Separate FH Project File For Spouse's Family

Just a final follow-up question on this topic. Having successfully isolated my wife's side of the family using the discussed Plug-In, I created a Named List from all the people that were listed after running the Plug-In. However, I cannot find an easy way to generate an All Relatives diagram (for my...

Re: Report with timeline

This may not be a very elegant approach, but you could enlarge the Facts tab window in the Property Box and then use the Windows Snipping Tool to take a picture of that window. Save the snipped picture as a jpeg file and then attach it as a Source document to a custom Biography (or Timeline) attribu...

Re: Create Separate FH Project File For Spouse's Family

When I select my wife, just her side of the family is returned when running the Plug-In. When I select her sister, the results include my side of the family as well. Yes, my wife and her sister share all the same blood relatives.

Re: Create Separate FH Project File For Spouse's Family

Perhaps I am misunderstanding how this Plug-In is intended to work. I assumed that if I select my wife's sister, the results would only return her blood relative lineage, not blood relatives on my side of the tree as well. In this case, my goal was to isolate my wife's sister's lineage so that I cou...

Re: Create Separate FH Project File For Spouse's Family

However, when I select my wife's sister, it seems to return the entire database (which obviously includes my side of the family), regardless of whether I exclude Associated Persons and Fact Wit...

Re: Create Separate FH Project File For Spouse's Family

Yes, my wife & I do share numerous common ancestors back in the Charlemagne era, so maybe that was the problem.

However, I just downloaded Version 0.7 and I still get my side of the family when I run the new Plug-In.

Re: Create Separate FH Project File For Spouse's Family

Mike, I just got around to running this Plug-In. I must be missing something on how to select the person for whom we are running the Plug-In for. For example, I select my wife in the Focus window (or in the Records window as an alternative), run the Plug-In, and the results bring up my side of the f...

Re: RecordIDs in reports and diagrams

Phil, I will defer to Mike on this, but I think that FH has some limitations on displaying pdf file formats and especially WORD files. My approach has always been to convert all my media attachments to a jpeg format before attaching them to any profiles in FH. Pretty sure that jpeg will always work ...

Re: RecordIDs in reports and diagrams

Mike, a question regarding the Index option for reports. Based on my experimenting with the Index in my ISR publications, it seems that the Index always sorts in alphabetical order. I always include Record IDs in my Index . I do a lot of cross-referencing with Record ID numbers. As a result, I am th...

Since I only use the ISR format for publishing, I would not expect to see any changes in those documents since it...

Re: Facts With Duplicate Names

Mike, I did read the other thread that you referenced. However, I still do not have a firm understanding of what might happen (or how it might happen) to Burial data that I have previously entered using the Burial fact. Perhaps I do not understand how the Burial fact is linked to any data that might...
