Re: Create Separate FH Project File For Spouse's Family

Yes, I tried your first suggestion a few days ago. But since my wife and I had some shared relatives back in the Charlemagne era, my side of the family still kept popping up with all those colorful lines that showed the mutual connections to our ancient ancestors. So, as a quick alternative, I figur...

Re: Create Separate FH Project File For Spouse's Family

Your very first posting said you wanted to " isolate all the ancestors/relatives on my wife's side of the tree and create a new FH project file for just her family ". Well now the Plugin has given you the Named List of required Individuals you can create that Project using the advice in h...

Re: Create Separate FH Project File For Spouse's Family

Just a final follow-up question on this topic. Having successfully isolated my wife's side of the family using the discussed Plug-In, I created a Named List from all the people that were listed after running the Plug-In. However, I cannot find an easy way to generate an All Relatives diagram (for my...

Re: Report with timeline

This may not be a very elegant approach, but you could enlarge the Facts tab window in the Property Box and then use the Windows Snipping Tool to take a picture of that window. Save the snipped picture as a jpeg file and then attach it as a Source document to a custom Biography (or Timeline) attribu...

Re: Create Separate FH Project File For Spouse's Family

When I select my wife, just her side of the family is returned when running the Plug-In. When I select her sister, the results include my side of the family as well. Yes, my wife and her sister share all the same blood relatives.

Re: Create Separate FH Project File For Spouse's Family

Perhaps I am misunderstanding how this Plug-In is intended to work. I assumed that if I select my wife's sister, the results would only return her blood relative lineage, not blood relatives on my side of the tree as well. In this case, my goal was to isolate my wife's sister's lineage so that I cou...

Re: Create Separate FH Project File For Spouse's Family

I just finished some more experimenting this morning. It now seems to be running ok when I select my wife. However, when I select my wife's sister, it seems to return the entire database (which obviously includes my side of the family), regardless of whether I exclude Associated Persons and Fact Wit...

Re: Create Separate FH Project File For Spouse's Family

Yes, my wife & I do share numerous common ancestors back in the Charlemagne era, so maybe that was the problem.

However, I just downloaded Version 0.7 and I still get my side of the family when I run the new Plug-In.

Re: Create Separate FH Project File For Spouse's Family

Mike, I just got around to running this Plug-In. I must be missing something on how to select the person for whom we are running the Plug-In for. For example, I select my wife in the Focus window (or in the Records window as an alternative), run the Plug-In, and the results bring up my side of the f...

Re: RecordIDs in reports and diagrams

Phil, I will defer to Mike on this, but I think that FH has some limitations on displaying pdf file formats and especially WORD files. My approach has always been to convert all my media attachments to a jpeg format before attaching them to any profiles in FH. Pretty sure that jpeg will always work ...

Re: RecordIDs in reports and diagrams

Mike, a question regarding the Index option for reports. Based on my experimenting with the Index in my ISR publications, it seems that the Index always sorts in alphabetical order. I always include Record IDs in my Index . I do a lot of cross-referencing with Record ID numbers. As a result, I am th...

Re: RecordIDs in reports and diagrams

I only have about 3700 people but cannot understand how those people with trees with many more than mine will ever pass the information on to future generations. We cannot rely on FH, Gedcom or even computers being around in 50 years, let alone 200 years Thanks for help and ideas Currently, I only ...

Re: Facts With Duplicate Names

I did delete the Custom Burial fact, so the Standard Burial fact is the only one listed now. I spot-checked a few profiles and found that nothing had changed regarding burial references. Since I only use the ISR format for publishing, I would not expect to see any changes in those documents since it...

Re: Facts With Duplicate Names

Thanks for the clarification. I will make a couple fresh external drive Full Backups and then delete the Custom Burial fact and see what happens. I had previously looked at the Sentence Templates for each Burial fact and the Standard version contained much more information than the Custom version, e...

Re: Facts With Duplicate Names

Mike, I did read the other thread that you referenced. However, I still do not have a firm understanding of what might happen (or how it might happen) to Burial data that I have previously entered using the Burial fact. Perhaps I do not understand how the Burial fact is linked to any data that might...

Facts With Duplicate Names

I was looking through my Fact Types box today and noticed that I have Burial listed twice. One is a Standard fact while the other is a Custom fact. The 2nd occurrence of Burial is listed as "eclipsed" and "disabled", so it is apparently not active. I do not recall ever having ent...

Re: Page Layout for Source Document Media

Excellent tip, David, thanks. The suggested "Gap" option does give me a lot of flexibility to adjust the image location to my liking. I did notice that your suggested settings did center most of my images, however, a couple were slightly off-center, possibly due to the different aspect rat...

In addition to what Lorna suggested, you can also do the edits of PLACES by going directly to the Records window, select the PLACES tab, and then double-click any place that you want to edit.

Page Layout for Source Document Media

I am trying to figure out a way to get the images of my Source documents to display in the center of the page, rather than being oriented to the left side of the page. A picture is attached to show what I mean. I want to get this image to display in the center of the page, not along the left side. A...

Re: Relationship to Root Person Displayed in Focus Window

Yes, I had already checked this out with the "How Related" tool, so I knew that Charlemagne was definitely my wife's 39th great grandfather. This change in what is being displayed in the Focus window only occurred last week when I finally established my relationship to Charlemagne. So, onc...

Relationship to Root Person Displayed in Focus Window

My wife is the 39th great grand-daughter of Charlemagne. I am also directly descended from Charlemagne. When I designate my wife as the Root person, the Focus window for Charlemagne will only list my relationship to him instead of my wife's. A screen shot is attached to illustrate. You will note tha...
